There's something about running that I can't explain. Maybe it's the elusive 'runner's high' that I didn't believe existed until last year, maybe it's the fact that it's something I was bad at when I was overweight, maybe it's the fact that I can think about stuff without dealing with all the nonsense of responsibility. Running is addictive.
Now that I've gotten that philosophical part out of the way, I'll explain why I switched from rowing to running. If Godzilla were to attack NYC, what would I do if I were good at rowing... hop on the subway up to 218th and rig a single and row to safety? No... obviously I would run as fast as I could away from him. For the simple reason of utility... I have made the decision to replace rowing with running. For those would would ask me, "Wouldn't swimming be more useful in that situation?" No... because I'm assuming Ebirah is lurking in the Hudson.
Anyway, today was an alright day for running... 5 miles in a shade under 40 minutes isn't terrific, or even close to what I could do when I was 'good' at running, but it's a start. Plus... WOOHOO! I broke 100 miles 'on the year' (read: since April 4th haha).
distance for the day: 5.00 miles
distance biked for the day: 0.00 miles
distance on the year: 101.57 miles
distance biked on the year: 105.94 miles
