The master chef and baker is from Germany and the cakes are just decadent and sweet and really moist (none of that airy stuff). It is just off of Jiantian MRT station. You will go CRAZY with the selections. My most favorite is the Aunt Dorothy Cherry Quarke. Seriously, I gave up looking for a decent piece of dessert in this country and started my own business. Of course, I'm just now realizing this is a realllly old entry. However, I'm with you in wanting decent dessert here.SunnieGhttp://www.thedecoratedcake.webs.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6776104395943412579.post-6014064452325504612010-07-15T03:09:11.891-04:002010-07-15T03:09:11.891-04:00oh and the chocolate muffin from starbucks hits th...oh and the chocolate muffin from starbucks hits the spot when you are desperate!joanhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17843619464189692369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6776104395943412579.post-1287681697034558712010-07-15T03:08:11.867-04:002010-07-15T03:08:11.867-04:00i think it's just that asian cakes are really ...i think it's just that asian cakes are really different from american cakes, so we are expecting a certain taste and not getting it. when i first came back, i couldn't stand a lot of the cakes in taipei, even though they were so pretty. if you want something more rich, i'd recommend the chocolate ganache cake from Pozzo (which they don't sell by the slice unfortunately), the joanhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17843619464189692369noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6776104395943412579.post-14858588641814386422010-06-30T10:20:47.303-04:002010-06-30T10:20:47.303-04:00couldn't have said it better :)couldn't have said it better :)Baby Madisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15034872750107076322noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6776104395943412579.post-67684944600463461182010-06-27T07:36:09.555-04:002010-06-27T07:36:09.555-04:00BUT... they make cakes shaped like pandas. Even the stuff here like Fay Da and Tai Pan don't have that much flavor. Howeverrrr, if you go to Red Ribbon Bakery (a Filipino place), the cake is SOO FULL OF FLAVOR!! But also feels light, airy, soft, and spongey (the way most Asian cakes are). They probably suck in China too (excluding Hong Kong - since it has such a long history of European occupation). I think the traditional Asian palate favors very subtle flavors and is less fond of the taste of sweet... or maybe is just not that accustomed to the taste of sweet that comesVictoriahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14614262660098123078noreply@blogger.com
